Not Quite A Proper Benediction…

January 8, 2014

…but it will have to do.

“I’ve never quite understood,

So I’m sure you don’t as well

How this flower continued growing

After all that snow had fell.

And through so many winters,

I watched it bloom in reverie,

While every petal whispered:

“In hallowed memory

Of a distant summer

In another place and time”

When for just a fleeting moment,

You were nearly mine.

And though I wish that I could show you

Just how beautiful it was,

The poor thing at last has withered,

And been returned to dust.”

Fin.
